South Platte River (Littleton)
Right across the highway from Chatfield State Park, this section of the South Platte River is super calm and shallow which makes it great for kids. The sandy bottom and many entry points make it super convenient as well. Its gentle flow is perfect for paddle boarding or even just floating on a tube. Littleton is a super cute town to grab some ice cream in afterwards as well!
Located just over 30 minutes away from downtown Denver, this beautiful front range lake is perfect for paddle boarding. Motorized boats are limited to trolling so the waters are calm for all paddling enthusiasts. The park also has many discovery trails and fishing opportunities to keep the kids occupied after their arms get tired.
For those on the western slope of Colorado, this Fruita reservoir is a great place for the little ones to paddle board. The water is only open to non-motor boats like kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards, so kids are able to paddle in calm waters. Snooks Bottom is located within the city limits which makes it a great place for an impromptu paddle or afternoon adventure.
These are just a few great kid-friendly paddle boarding spots in Colorado. Sharing the beauty of outdoor activities with children is so important to us here at Gearo, so we hope these paddle location suggestions help. Don’t forget the sunscreen and lifejackets!
